Cowslip primrose extract contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and phenolic glycosides. Saponins have an expectorant effect which makes them useful in treating bronchial diseases. They also moisturize the mucous membranes making it easier to breathe. Saponins also have foaming properties, so they are a very good base for the production of cleaning and washing agents.
