Nonapeptide-1 works at the level of melanogenesis by blocking signals in melanocyte genes, which effectively inhibits melanin formation processes. Its unique structure, which is a biomimetic a-MSH peptide, allows it to interact with the MC1R receptor in melanocytes, reducing tyrosinase activation and thus melanin production.
In in vitro experiments, nonapeptide-1 has demonstrated the ability to significantly reduce melanin levels and inhibit tyrosinase activity, translating into efficacy in skin brightening and pigmentation spot reduction. It is a substance of high purity (98.0%), produced by biological fermentation, the recommended concentration in products is 0.1-0.2%.
It is mainly used in skin care products aimed at smoothing skin tone, reducing uneven pigmentation and improving overall brightness and evenness of the complexion.
