Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a cosmetic ingredient that acts as a rheology modifier, meaning that it improves the consistency of a product, increasing its viscosity. Due to its oily texture, this substance facilitates the application of cosmetics, giving them better glide. Caprylic-capric triglycerides act as an oily emollient, which forms a protective occlusive layer (film) on the surface of the skin and hair. This layer prevents excessive evaporation of water. The substance conditions the skin, softening and smoothing it, and improves the structure of the hair, making it soft and smooth. In its pure form, the product can promote the formation of blackheads (comedogenicity), so it is best used in cosmetic formulas.
