It also acts as a thickener, as it gives products the right creamy texture, improving the comfort of their application. Cetearyl Alcohol is an oily emollient that forms a protective film on the surface of the skin and hair, retaining moisture and preventing excessive water evaporation (TEWL – transepidermal water loss). As a result, it has a moisturizing, softening and smoothing effect. It is a popular raw material in products for dry, sensitive skin and hair in need of intensive regeneration. In cleansing preparations, such as makeup remover milks and oils, it helps remove impurities and sebum, while not irritating the skin.
