Nut
A nut is a hard, woody fruit with a seed inside, which is a source of valuable nutrients. It develops as the plant matures and serves as a natural shell that protects the seed from mechanical damage, moisture, and environmental factors. In everyday usage, the term “nut” refers both to the entire shell with its edible interior and to the seed itself, which is consumed or processed into raw materials.
Nuts in plant-based raw materials
Nuts are characterized by an exceptionally high content of plant fats, including essential unsaturated fatty acids, as well as proteins, vitamins (especially E and B group), minerals, polyphenols, and phytosterols. Thanks to this composition of bioactive compounds, they are a valuable raw material for the production of cold-pressed oils, extracts, and powders used in dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, and natural cosmetics.
The importance of nuts as a source of active substances
Due to their richness in nutrients and antioxidants, nuts have held an important place in traditional medicine and human nutrition for centuries. Today, they are considered one of the most valuable plant-based raw materials in the production of nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, and cosmetics – including luxurious oils with nourishing and regenerative properties.
