Properties and applications
Thyme essential oil is characterized by an intense, spicy fragrance with tonic and energizing properties. It is rich in thymol and carvacrol – natural antiseptics with proven antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. For this reason, the oil works well for problematic skin, helping to cleanse and regulate sebum. The oil is great for aromatherapy. Inhalations with it help clear the respiratory tract, making it easier to breathe during colds and infections. In turn, its warming properties make it an ideal ingredient in baths and massages for fatigue, muscle tension and rheumatism. When inhaled, it supports concentration and stimulates the mind. Thyme oil is an intense oil, so it should always be used diluted. It is not recommended to use it in its pure form on the skin, as it can cause irritation.
