Magnesium hydroxide exhibits strong acid-neutralizing properties, so it is used as a natural anti-acid agent to relieve symptoms of heartburn and hyperacidity of the stomach. Due to its osmotic properties, it also exhibits a laxative effect and, when properly dosed, supports the regulation of bowel movements.
In cosmetics, it is used as a soothing, mattifying and sebum-absorbing agent, such as in deodorants, masks or salves. In addition, it is used in the production of mineral sunscreens and toothpaste, as well as in the process industry as a flame retardant additive and acid neutralizer.
