Characteristics of soy wax
Soy wax comes in the form of light, waxy flakes. The product has a characteristic, delicate scent and light color (Lovibond max. 3). It is suitable for producing colored and scented candles. A melting point in the range of 42–60°C ensures good stability at room temperature while providing even and controlled burning.
Properties of soy wax
Soy wax is primarily a natural alternative to paraffin and beeswax. Thanks to its plant-based origin, it is suitable for products aimed at vegans and vegetarians.
When burning candles, soy wax melts at a relatively low temperature, creating an even pool and reducing excessive smoke formation. The lipid structure of the wax means that once melted, it creates a pleasant, soft consistency to the touch. Therefore, it can be used in massage candles – once melted, it can be applied directly to the skin, providing a nourishing and smoothing effect. Soy wax acts as an emollient, reduces transepidermal water loss, and improves skin comfort.
Soy wax is compatible with essential oils and fragrance compositions. It allows for creating candles with an intense, long-lasting aroma. Temperature stability and homogeneous structure make it a predictable ingredient in the production process.
Applications of soy wax
Soy wax finds wide application in:
- production of eco-friendly and scented candles,
- aromatherapy candles,
- massage candles,
- scented wax melts,
- natural cosmetics (solid balms, body butters),
- DIY products and crafts.
Due to quality parameters confirmed in the specification and melting point control, the ingredient is suitable for applications requiring repeatability and stability of production batches.
