Particularly valuable are formulations combining Ceramide AP with Ceramide NP, Ceramide NG, cholesterol, and fatty acids. This allows recreating a more diverse lipid system in the product.
Ceramide AP is distinguished by the combination of phytosphingosine with an alpha-hydroxylated fatty acid. It is precisely the presence of an additional hydroxyl group that differentiates it from Ceramide NP, while the type of sphingoid base differentiates it from Ceramide NG. Thanks to its distinct structure, it constitutes a valuable complement to multi-component ceramide complexes intended for barrier and conditioning formulations.
