Ceramides are natural components of the lipid matrix of the stratum corneum. In cosmetic formulations, Ceramide NG serves as a skin and hair conditioning ingredient. It is primarily intended for products aimed at supporting the lipid barrier, reducing excessive water loss, and improving the comfort of dry, rough skin exposed to external factors.
Ceramide NG can be used alone or combined with other ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. Such combinations allow for the creation of more complex lipid complexes intended for barrier cosmetics.
Ceramide NG differs from Ceramide NP and Ceramide AP in the type of sphingoid base – it contains sphinganine instead of phytosphingosine. It therefore represents a different type of ceramide building the lipid structure of the stratum corneum. It can be used as a standalone formulation ingredient or combined with other ceramides in complexes mimicking the natural diversity of skin lipids.
Applications of Ceramide NG
- face and body creams and emulsions,
- cosmetic balms and butters,
- cosmetics for dry and sensitive skin,
- protective and regenerating preparations,
- conditioners, masks and hair serums,
- scalp care products.
The ingredient is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is not derived from animals.
