Cetyl alcohol is an organic compound from the group of fatty alcohols. It’s an “oily” emollient and an emulsion stabilizer which makes cosmetics more sticky. The substance emulsifies with water to form an emulsion.
Cetyl alcohol doesn’t exhibit toxicity. It doesn’t have an allergenic or irritating effect on the skin. The pure form of the substance is also safe. In skin cosmetics, it has the comedogenic effect. It’s a safe ingredient that can be widely applied in the cosmetic industry. The substance can be found in a number of skin and hair care products as it has moisturizing and smoothing qualities.
