Sweet orange is native to the region between the Himalayas and China, and came to Europe thanks to Portuguese traders in the 15th century. Today, it is widely cultivated around the world, mainly for its fruit and also for its valuable essential oils, which are used in many areas of life. One use is in aromatherapy, as the oil has a strong soothing and relaxing effect. It helps reduce nervous tension, stress and fatigue. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, sweet orange oil can be used in disinfectants and surface sanitizers. It is also effective in air freshening, neutralizing bacteria, viruses and fungi. In cosmetics, orange oil has an astringent and tonic effect on the skin. It strengthens connective tissue, enhances the regeneration processes of the skin, and firms it, which is why it is used in cosmetics to fight cellulite. The oil also has an anti-inflammatory effect, speeding up the healing of cuts and insect bites. Used in massage oils, orange oil helps relax muscles, fight cramps and aches, and aids digestion by gently massaging the abdomen.
