Properties of tomato plant extract
The combination of fruits, leaves, and stems provides a diverse complex of plant compounds. In addition to carotenoids and organic acids derived from the fruits, flavonoids, polyphenols, and other components characteristic of leaves and shoots may be present. Their profile depends on the proportion of individual plant parts and the extraction method, which is why this raw material should not be described solely through the prism of lycopene.
In cosmetic formulations, the extract primarily functions as a conditioning and astringent agent. It can support skin refreshment, improve its perceived smoothness, and help reduce the sensation of excessive oiliness. The astringent action may temporarily reduce the visibility of pores, but it does not cause their permanent constriction.
The presence of various groups of plant compounds also allows for considering the extract in antioxidant formulations. However, it should not be automatically attributed the properties of pure lycopene, vitamin C, or AHA acids if the raw material is not standardized for them.

The extract can be used in:
- toners,
