From the point of view of the dietary and pharmaceutical industries, however, the most important is the fraction of polysaccharides extracted from it, consisting of xylose, mannose and glucuronic acid linked by an α-1,3-glycosidic bond, with side chains composed of galactose, arabinose and small amounts of fucose.
The macerate obtained from it is known in cosmetics as a natural substitute for hyaluronic acid, as it has strong moisturizing and anti-aging properties.
On the other hand, in medicines and dietary supplements, the adaptogenic properties of sea quaking are appreciated – it protects the body from the negative effects of stress, supports concentration and memory. It is also known for its extensive activity beneficial in the prevention of civilization diseases. The substances contained in the extract lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, promote detoxification of the body and support proper bowel function.
